In a joint statement, the newly appointed leads expressed their gratitude, stating, “We are honored to have been chosen by Judge Pratter to spearhead one of the most significant pharmaceutical injury cases in recent memory against the manufacturers of diabetes and weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy.”

The judge presiding over the Ozempic MDL has named four co-lead counsel to represent plaintiffs in the litigation. Additionally, the order has formed a 10-lawyer executive committee and a 10-lawyer steering committee, each member designated with specific responsibilities. This decision follows the appointment of eight lawyers to a plaintiffs’ committee several weeks ago. The top contenders for roles as plaintiffs’ co-lead counsel in the Ozempic multidistrict litigation have now officially secured their positions.

The judge overseeing the MDL has appointed Parvin Aminolroaya from Seeger Weiss LLP in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey; Jonathan Orent from Motley Rice in Providence, Rhode Island; Paul Pennock from Morgan & Morgan in New York; and Sarah Ruane from Wagstaff & Cartmell LLP in Kansas City, Missouri, as co-lead counsel for the plaintiffs, effective Wednesday.
